El tercer álbum de Bourbonese Qualk, "The Spike", se grabó durante el periodo 1984-1985 y fue publicado por el sello berlinés Dossier/Atonal mientras Bourbonese Qualk participaba en la organización del festival Atonal de Berlín. Parte de la cara 2 del álbum es una grabación de piezas realizadas para un espectáculo de danza y cine en el teatro Bloomsbury de Londres en 1985.
Bourbonese Qualk fue un grupo de música industrial experimental en Inglaterra, activo desde 1979 hasta 2003. Siempre se centraron de forma obsesiva e intransigente en el control de su trabajo: dirigían su propio sello discográfico, estudio de grabación, organización de giras y local de música (el conocido Ambulance Station). Se negaron a integrarse en el tinglado de la música comercial y rechazaron los contratos de edición de las grandes discográficas, optando obstinadamente por la independencia total.
