El cambio de milenio pilló al duo esotérico inglés Coil en la cima de una fase visionaria. Su traslado desde la ciudad a la costera tranquilidad de Westonsuper-Mare les liberó de la tentación de seguir obsesiones al margen, y les desconectó de cualquier influencia de sus pares. Durante un periodo de apenas seis meses en 2000 publicaron la diabólica secuela underworld de Music To Play In The Dark, el drone arcane de Queens Of The Circulating Library, y un malevolente exorcismo de sintetizadores de una hora de duración proféticamente titulada Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil. Este último trabajo permanece como una de las creaciones más miásmicas y estimulantes de su carrera, a la par con Time Machines – un tratado divino sobre el estremecimiento y el ruido psicoactivo.
