Uno de los innumerables alias de Miguel A.RUIZ (ORFEON GAGARIN) para un trabajo publicado originalmente en casete en 1987 (más tarde reeditado en CDR por el propio autor en Toracic). Tal vez esta sea la faceta "Industrial" , o más próxima a este término, de Ruiz, repleta de sonidos electrónicos crudos en la línea de otras producciones de la época pero bastante más inspirado.
Esta es la primera vez que se edita en vinilo (y muy bien), siendo una muestra más de la actualidad de este músico electrónico de Batán (Madrid) que parece que por fín va siendo reconocido como merece en su propio país. Su labor continúa actualmente y en plena forma: su último trabajo como Orfeón Gagarin para el sello de Esplendor Geométrico (Geometrik) editado en el 2019 lo demuestra.
Edición limitada con portada inspirada en la original de la casete. Incluye descarga con temas extra tomados de recopilaciones de esos años.
"Summer 1988: I exactly remember the day when I received a parcel from Miguel with the first tape by 'Funeral Souvenir'. When I played it the first time in my cassette-deck I immediately felt pure euphory, trembling excitement and fascination: the clattering rhythm produced by ZX spectrum computer processed by Ibanez analogue delay, the muddy radio- and TV-voices, sombre ambient loops and uneasy feedbacks...'Funeral Souvenir' belongs to the most intense and dramatic releases by Miguel A. Ruiz and must be considered as one of the most influencial proto-industrial-releases from Spain. The album is very direct, radical! 'Schlamm' and 'Doppler Maxima' clearly show the listener where the hunt begins: an apocalyptic information-overdose of radiovoices from reporters and politicians, shredded by machinistic rotations. One of my alltime favourite albums."
